Prepare for the solar eclipses with the Skywatcher 120mm Solar Filter for Refractors Telescopes. Solar observations can be conducted safely by placing the solar filter securely over the front of your telescope. The intensity of the Sun light is reduced and a natural white image is produced of the photosphere letting subtle details in like sun spots. The Baader Astro Solar Safety Film performs optically similar to high quality plane-parallel glass filters. Metal coatings on the film are uniformly distributed along both surfaces ensuring good color balance across the entire field from edge to edge. Completely safe and durable, the film transmits 1/100,000 of visible light (.001%) while reflecting (blocking) 99.999%of unwanted light. The film significantly decreases harmful ultraviolet rays and infrared light. Baader Astro Solar film has also been declared safe for direct solar viewing by the German National Bureau of Standards for eye safety. The Skywatcher 120mm Solar Filter for 120mm refractors allows you to see the details of sunspots, bright faculae near the limb and the mottled areas known as granules. These filters enable the safe and long duration viewing of our Sun. For more viewing tips and safety precautions, click here to read our guide. Also, before using your solar filter, always check to ensure that the filter is not damaged in any way.
