As a Colour CCD Cameras, Celestron Skyris Colour Planetary Cameras are very sensitive to the visual spectrum, such as infrared. Your telescopes may correct the chromatic aberration for you, but are not designed to correct for IR light, which will cause defocused in your images.
This Celestron IR Blocking Filter is designed to block IR light but yet able to maintain colour fidelity by allowing more than 94% of the entire visual spectrum passing through, provides the greatest colour balance and sharpness in your astro-images.
