Spotting Scopes

Spotting scopes are portable telescopes, optimised for terrestrial or land observation including birdwatching, hunting, surveillance, and scenic viewing. The magnification of spotting scopes typically range from 20 to 60 X, and they are designed with either straight or angled eyepieces that suit different activities and personal preferences.

The spotting scope's light-gathering ability and resolution is determined by the diameter of its objective lens, which typically ranges from 50 to 80mm. In general, the larger the diameter of the objective lens, the better the light-gathering capacity of the scope and the brighter and clearer the image quality. However, keep in mind that a bigger objective lens also means a bulkier and more expensive spotting scope.

Spotting scopes use small refracting objective lenses and image erecting lenses or prisms to form an image that is right side up. Some spotting scopes are also designed with a variable zoom suited for a variety of applications. Spotting scopes are especially suitable for outdoor use due to their rugged design and increased durability, and most people may find tripods useful especially when using spotting scopes over an extended period of time.

Our growing range of spotting scopes include established brands such as Celestron and Barksa, so you have a wide variety to choose from. If you'd like a more tailored recommendation for your personal use and preferences, feel free to contact us and we will be glad to assist you.
