    Terrific Service
    Overall Score
This purchase was made for a gift, so my comments can't really apply to scope performance. However, it was well-priced and the service was truly excellent. Would happily deal with OZSCOPES again. Review by Walto (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    A Great First Step
    Overall Score
I have owned the Powerseeker 114 for about a month, and have had quite a few nights of good viewing. This is my first telescope and I am glad I chose it. I wanted a budget scope that wasn't junk, one that I could start learning the night sky with, and see some amazing objects. It has just enough light gathering ability to see most of the Messier objects, and a few galaxies, (from what I have been able to find so far). The eye pieces that come with it are pretty generic. I bought a few plossel eye pieces and the views are brighter and crisper. The plastic 3x barlow that comes with it works okay but it is very cheap. The screw that secures the eyepiece stripped out within a week! The finder scope works well, it is just a bit time consuming to align. One bump and it is out of whack. I found that the tripod is pretty sturdy. Some of the screws had to be re tightened when I assembled it, but that is okay. Most of the wobble comes from the mount. This is a small scope technically, but it is still pretty large and has a bit of weight. It really needs a bigger and sturdier mount, but it still does what it's supposed to do. It is definitely a learning curve to use the equitoral mount and setting circles. I had to file down the little needles that indicate the degrees and minutes as the tips covered nearly an entire degree. They work good though once you figure out how to use them. It doesn't point exactly to the object when you dial in the coordinates, but gets you close enough. With some filters and the right eye pieces you will be able to see many things. Maybe not in the stunning detail you first expect when you first get into astronomy, but you do see them. I have been able to see many star clusters, nebula, comet Lovejoy, and several planets so far with it. The amount of things I have learned and seen so far with this scope is more than worth the price, and occasional frustration. A great first step into the world(s) of astronomy. Review by Matt H. Great first telescope. Great clear images of moon craters & mountains.
Takes a little while to adjust your eyes to looking through the lens, but you soon adapt. Have seen some amazing star formations.

A spectacular first telescope for a great price!
    Overall Score
It arrived within just 4 days of ordering and package was in great condition, all pieces inside were safely wrapped and stored. It was frustrating and confusing for me, as an ameteur, to put the telescope together while just using the detailed instruction booklet, but a video on youtube helped me set it up in about ten minutes. I was able to look at the moon the first night and it was AMAZING! The image is beatifully crisp, you can see every crater, lake and sea and get so close you feel like you could touch it; but beware, a full moon is very bright!
Despite what other buyers say, the 4mm eye peice is not a peice of junk- it has taken me closer to the moon, planets and nebulas than I ever thought I would get. The 20mm eyepeice is an excellent eyepeice aswell. Double these eyepieces with the Barlow lens and you can get closer still. Fantastic price for what you get.
Aligning the finderscope is a bit tricky, but once you take the time to align it; it is of great help!
The tripod is not shaky, also like other buyers have mentioned in reviews on other sites. It is very strong and stable, however, if you want to adjust the height of the tripod I STRONGLY suggest you get help; I dropped mine while trying to do it myself, but luckily it didn't get damaged.
If you plan to take it somewhere, you willprobably only have to take the mount off and fold the tripod up, which should'nt be much of a problem. But it is quite large and you must carry it very carefully when moving it around.
Overall, a PERFECT beginners telescope; I was very pleased with the beautiful images, even if you could'nt see colour, and it easy to manouver and work. A+!! :)
