Description

The Vanguard Alta Pro Pistol 263AGH Tripod is possibly the most flexible tripod / ball head pair in the world. The Alta Pro 263AGH is everything you need for out-of-this-world watching and photography. Alta Pro tripods offers generous height, impressive stability, and light weight alongside a comprehensive list of professional functions. Its innovative Multi-Angle Central Column (MACC) System allows users to move the central column from zero to 180-degree angles in variable vertical and horizontal positions making macro-photography and special wide-angle shots a breeze.

The included ball head operates by way of a pistol-grip trigger. Squeeze it, and you release the lock on the ball in order to position it; release it, and the ball locks to set the position. The Instant Swivel Stop-n-Lock (ISSL) System securely repositions the central column in one simple movement, in just a few seconds, while maintaining the tripod’s stability. You can easily adjust the tension of the center column's swiveling motion with an Allen key, and the head also features a Friction Control System. Additional tripod features include advanced camera vibration and shock control, aluminum alloy legs that adjust to 25, 50 and 80-degree angles, quick-flip leg locks, patented premium magnesium die-cast canopy, hexagon-shaped central column for extra stability, and non-slip, spiked rubber feet for changing terrains. Its GH-100 pistol grip-style ball head has a Grip Position Release System with a handle that allows 360-degrees of panning movements and -32 to +90 degrees of side-to-side tilt and -8 to +0--degree back to front tilt movement all around. It also comes with a free carrying bag for your carry and travel convenience.

Overall a good tripod but... - Review by

Ok, I'm just getting into amateur astronomy and like the reviewer above I have also purchased this tripod with the Celestron 20x80 Skymaster Binoculars.

After 3 months of use I have personally found the pistol grip head a bit awkward to use with the large binoculars, the pistol grip head maybe better suited for a camera, but I don't own one so can't say.

Recently I have swapped out the pistol grip head for the Vanguard PH-113V Video head, the video head feels much more easy and accurate to use.

So if considering purchasing this tripod for use with large binoculars I would suggest, giving Ozscopes a call to talk to salesperson for their recommendation. Newbie mistake on my part.

Used with Celestron 20x80 Skymaster Binos. Super stable and totally adjustable. Multiple adjustments and configurations allowed viewing from all the angles I required, with no fear of overbalancing. Simple to use and set up, but enough adjustments to cover professional use. Order and delivery was straightforward...and so fast!! No doubt 5 stars!!
