Tasco Pronghorn Riffle Scope - Review by Bryan Dennis
I have had the scope mounted on my new Savage .17HMR riffle and I am very happy with the product, best scope for the prices I have ever used and would recommend it to any sporting shooters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Would a pronghorn mounted on a .22 cz be the best to shoot rabbits at 50 yards?
A:
Yes, that would actually work fine :)
Q:
How far does this scope see for I am looking for a cheap scope for roo shooting?
A:
The Tasco Pronghorn Rifle scope actually comes in two options:
- 4x32 Pronghorn 30/30 Reticle
- 3-9x40 Pronghorn 30/30 Reticle
All optical devices are actually designed with an infinite focus. The actual viewing range depends on how large the object is that you are trying to view.
The 3-9x40 is a variable zoom scope which will give you a greater range than the fixed magnification scope. It also has a larger aperture for a wider field of view.
I recommend the 3-9x40 for hunting.

Q:
I am just inquiring if the Pronghorn scope would be suitable for mounting on a .17HMR? I only use the riffle to hunt rabbits & the odd fox.
A:
Yes, the Pronghorn scope would be suitable for your gun. You can combine any scope with any gun, but you'll just need the right rings and mount for it. We don't supply rings and mounts, but you can go to any gun shop and they can provide you with the correct rings and mount as well as help you mount it and boresight it as well.
Q:
Does the tasco pronghorn rifle scope come with mounts? If not, what do you recommend?
A:
None of our rifle scopes actually come with mounts, as the mounts are actually rifle specific, not scope specific.
We recommend getting your scope fitted at your local gun shop for the best fit.

Q:
Is it suitable for a high power air rifle with a rail of 11 mm? I am interested with the 3-9x40.
A:
Unfortunately this Riflescope wouldn't be suited for your air rifle as they would not be able to withstand the recoil rate of air guns.

Q:
How long does it take to recieve product?
A:
We get the scope from our supplier as soon as an order comes in. This usually takes a week to arrive at our warehouse from our supplier. It would then take another 1-5 working days to get to you, depending on where your location is. Therefore, the total amount of time for a customer to receive a product would usually be around 2 weeks.
Q:
One of my rifles is a new Marlin 336 SS with a short barrel 30-30. I want to put a scope on it. Will a 6x4 probably do the job?Can you recommend one with the rings complete so I can fit it up, Please quote a price all up plus shipping. The Tasco Pronghorn looks interesting.
A:
For a short barrel rifle I recommend looking at a scope with a smaller aperture. If you will be using the scope for short distances, then I recommend looking at a fixed magnification of 3x up to a maximum of 6x with an aperture of around 32 to 40mm. If you would prefer a variable zoom option, I recommend looking at a 1.75-5x or a 2-7x or at the very most, a 3-9x magnification.
Generally, if you are after a quality riflescope, it is recommended to spend the same amount of money on a scope as what was spent on the rifle.
For a basic entry level scope, the Tasco Pronghorn Rifle Scope in a 4x32 configuration would be ideal. You can find it on our website here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/tasco-pronghorn-rifle-scope.html
For a quality scope for Vortex Diamondback Rifle Scope 2-7x35 can be found here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/vortex-diamondback-rifle-scope-2-7x35.html
For a mid range scope, the Bushnell Trophy XLT 3-9x40 Rifle Scope would suit:

In regards to mounting rings, we don't actually stock them as they are rifle specific, not scope specific so we do recommend getting your scope fitted at your local gunshop.
Shipping for rifle scopes will depend on the product and your location, however, shipping normally hovers around the $16.00 mark.

Q:
Is it for air rifles and if so how much for a mount for a Norica56 and delivery to Maitland NSW?
A:
This scope is not suitable for air rifles as they are a break barrel style. For air rifles, its best to get one with a fixed-barrel, as you get the power of a spring pneumatic with the added assurance of accuracy knowing you never have to move the barrel. Most of the time, they come at a cost ( more than $200) but they definitely last longer for your gun and worth looking into. Do let us know if you wish for us to recommend a few.
In regards to delivery prices and times, they are approximately $12-$14 and take 4-7 working days to arrive to you!
