Details
The SkyWatcher MAK102EQ2 Maksutov Cassegrain Telescope is a fantastic telescope. Extremely portable with a bright 102mm aperture size, you can be sure that this telescope won't disappoint. Perfect for beginner to mid-level astronomer, is a superb telescope at an excellent price point.

Small Sized with Big Quality

Don't be fooled by its small size - the SkyWatcher MAK102EQ2 Maksutov Cassegrain Telescope provides excellent views of the night sky. The MAK102EQ2 has been specifically engineered to maximize contrast and image sharpness. With a long 1300mm focal length, it'll also make a great telescope for astrophotography!

It's portable size allows for easy transport to your favourite viewing spots as well.

Convenient Set-Up

The MAK102EQ2 is extremely easy to set-up and control. With a standard aluminium tripod and accessory tray for storing eyepieces, you can be sure that setting up is fuss-free. Your viewing experience is enhanced with the Equatorial mount - making star tracking quick and simple.

The MAK102EQ2's equatorial (or EQ) mount is built with a larger head mount for greater stability and tracking precision. Dual setting circles also conveniently allow observers to locate objects by setting R.A and Dec coordinates.

Strong and Sturdy

The heavier EQ mount rests firmly on an adjustable height aluminium tripod with large wall-to-wall accessory tray and central stabilizer. As with the EQ1 mount, the EQ2 can be fitted with an optional single axis motor drive for hands-free tracking.

A lot disappointed. - Review by Fraser Harrison
Overall Score
G'day all, I'm going to do a review on the MAK102EQ2,

As a first telescope, when I first received it, I was a little scared to put it together, the instructions were a little on the cheap printing side, not much detail at all.

Once I had it together, I found it a little hard to move around quite heavy but I managed to work everything out.

That night, I headed outside to view the planets and the moon, the only thing you can really focus on, is the moon, you can't really see much else, as for the price I spent on it, I would of expected a little better, it was easy to focus everything worked fine, the micro adjustment's worked well too.

Viewing the planets like Jupiter you can see the planet, not in very good detail at all, probably discouraged me from wasting time pointing it at Jupiter. As for other planets, I have yet to see any, Saturn is just a coloured blur.

The price for what you get is pretty blunt for what you get, I am going to be selling this telescope very soon for like, $300. Might buy another!

I would like to write more, but I have to go. Good bye all! (Posted on 11/12/11)

Cons: May encourage you to buy a big telescope!
