    Description

SkyWatcher EQ5 Mount with Steel Tripod

The Skywatcher EQ5 Mount delivers the precision and stability you need for serious stargazing. Utilizing only the highest quality materials and internal components, Skywatcher brings you a mount that is perfectly suited for telescopes in the small to medium weight category.

    Stable and Vibration Resistant Platform
The premium steel tubes used in the tripod ensure that you get a sturdy platform for your imaging device. As long as you stay within the prescribed payload, you’ll get the best performance from this mount. The rigidity of the aluminum tubes not only provides stability but also dampen tiny vibrations from external sources. These tiny vibrations are enough to interfere with observations at high magnifications.

    Precise Controls
The internal gears of the mount are manufactured to very strict tolerances. This ensures you get the smoothest and most precise controls compared to other mounts in the same class. You have full control of both latitude and longitude and each has a scale that’s listed in micrometers. There is also an aluminum setting circle and a bubble level which completes all the indicators needed to determine the mount’s position and level.

    FAQ

    Q:
I have a Skywatcher 8" Dobsonian telescope currently mounted on an uncomfortably heavy wood stand that renders it unpleasant to use outdoors. Is it possible to mount the scope on a field tripod and, if so, which one would best suit? I don't need auto-tracking and I don't really want to spend more on the tripod than I did on the telescope. Thanks in advance, Sivan
    A:
Unfortunately the EQ5 mount can only carry 10kg and the tube is 11kg already, then you need to purchase the rings to hold it. I would suggest something bigger, however the bigger mounts that we sell are much more expensive and also have the GOTO. There's nothing bigger without the GOTO unfortunately.
