Celestron C80 ED Refractor Telescope

This refractor is packed with great features and excellent optics including our high quality ED glass. The refractor style 80ED (APO) features a 2" rack and pinion focuser and has a bracket that can adapt to a photo tripod. ED glass provides excellent color correction and razor sharp images and virtually eliminates chromatic aberration usually seen during planetary and lunar viewing. With a focal length of 600mm (f/7.5) the 80ED refractor is well suited for wide field astrophotography as well as nature photography. This telescope comes complete with a 20mm 1.25" eyepiece, erect image diagonal and 6x30 finderscope. The doublet objective lens contains an element which is a crown glass termed a fluor-crown. This means a glass made up of fused crushed calcium fluoride (fluorite). This lens is then combined with a short flint element to make up the doublet. This fluor-crown glass has only recently been used in amateur astronomical refractors and has a low dispersion close to pure calcium fluoride crystal. This exact same glass is now used in some of the larger aperture doublet and triplet apochromatic ( APO ) refractors by manufacturers of very expensive refractors and even some types of spotting scope.
