Great Gift for kids and beginners, we are budding astronomers now! - Review by Anne S
I got this for my kids, and they loved it!
With a little bit of help from dad, the scope was set up quite quickly (Within half an hour, by the kids themselves!). Finding the moon was very easy, and we all marvelled at how clear the moon looks. We are still learning the loops in astronomy but this is definitely a good starting point for us.
Now the kids all want one for their room so that they can show it off to their friends (Kids are aged 5, 8 and 11). We adults may think of getting a better one ourselves
Delivery was quick, delivered to us within 2 days of ordering, Thank you Ozscopes for allowing us to get into astronomy (Posted on 11/05/12)

Pros: light, price, portability
Excellent first telescope, but you get what you pay for - Review by Stuart Gibbon
It doesn't get much simpler to use than this. Putting it together takes only a few minutes, and you can view terrestrial and celestial objects easily. The Barlow lens is very difficult to use as focusing it can be a real pain (very motion sensitive), but the 20mm and 4mm lenses are easy and straight-forward to use. You can get good, crisp images of the Moon on even poor visibility nights, while planetary viewing needs clear skies and a fair bit more patience. The finder scope can be a real pain to zero-in, too. But given the price, this is an excellent entry-level telescope, with no need for any special knowledge , experience or skill to start using very quickly. (Posted on 4/10/11)
Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
I'm new to telescopes but I need one that will let me look at stars and planets, is there any sort of device that helps you to find stars? Someone told me something about an electronic co ordinator or something? Are they around or has someone been pulling my leg?
A:
I believe what you are referring to is a Celestron SkyScout (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-skyscout-personal-planetarium.html).
This uses the magnetic fields in the earth to help you find objects in the sky. When looking through it, the reticle will light up with arrows guiding you to the star or planet you would like to see.
However, this device has a very low magnification. Do bear in mind that if you would like to see the object in detail, you would need a proper Telescope.
