Details
If you’re looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ Refractor Telescope is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving correct views of land and sky.

The AstroMaster Series produce bright, clear images of the Moon and planets. It is easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments. For views of the brighter deep space objects like galaxies and nebulae, we recommend the larger aperture and light gathering ability of the Newtonian reflectors.

Good first scope - Review by Justin
Overall Score
This model is a good affordable telescope. Only problem for me is now I want a stronger one. (Posted on 9/02/10)

Pros: light, price, user friendly, Good price, Positive adjustments, great first telescope
Cons: May encourage you to buy a big telescope!, Size; it's not small. But that's because it's a Dob; it's expected

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
Is it possible to buy the EQ mount for a Astromaster 70EQ separately, and if so how much would it cost.
A:
Unfortunately all the telescopes come fixed with their EQ mounts and the mounts itself are not available for purchase separately. This includes the Astromaster EQ mounts :( The only mounts we have is the ones we have here http://www.ozscopes.com.au/accessories/mounts-tripods. An EQ mount that is similar to the Astromaster one, but better, is this Saxon EQ5 mount (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/saxon-eq5-mount-w-steel-tripod.html).
Q:
How heavy is this?
A:
The Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ weighs around 8.16kg.
