Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
Would you recommend this telescope for first time users, children from 6 to 15? Does it come with a moon filter and if it doesn't, do you have them in stock and how much are they?
A:
Yes, the Powerseeker 114EQ would be suitable for beginners and for children of those ages. The size is a good beginner telescope size, and it is easy enough for kids to use.

The telescope does not come with a moon filter. You can get either the Saxon moon filter (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/moon-filter-saxon.html) or Celestron moon filter (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-moon-filter-1-25-in.html). They're both really the same, just from different brands. We have the Celestron one in stock but the Saxon ones have sold out and we're pending more supply from the manufacturer :) The Saxon moon filter is $18.00 and the Celestron moon filter is $24.95.
Q:
Would I be able to see the rings of Saturn with this Telescope if not could you suggest one that would ?
A:
You will be able to see the Moon in good detail. As for Saturn, you would be able to see the shape of the planets with the rings but not in enough detail to see the gap between the rings and the planets or more detail of the clouds.

However, the Powerseeker 114EQ is a very good telescope in its price point. That would definitely be my recommendation for under $200.
Q:
What is the warranty on this product?
A:
All Celestron telescopes come with a 2 year Australian manufacturer's warranty.
