Fantastic second telescope!! - Review by Stefan
This is my second telescope and I love it!! Making adjustments while looking at an object is so easy with the hand control and the motor that controls the scope.
The only cons I can think about are at times the tripod can be a little wobbly and when doing a sky align can take a few goes depending on the stars you point it at.
The guys at OzScopes really know their stuff and have a fantastic service, very prompt delivery, thank you!! (Posted on 17/12/11)

Great Scope - Review by Celestron Nexstar 130 SLT
This scope is great, and I think it is an awesome scope for beginners/hobbyists. I live in light polluted Perth, and even then I think i could see a hint of the Cassini division in Saturn, the band of Jupiter, and nebulosity in Orion. I have yet to get the alignment dead accurate, but its probably just me making silly mistakes when I align. The tracking isn't dead on either, but i'm sure that will come when it is aligned properly! I can'y wait to get some more gear for my camera and maybe a better mount :)
I would definitely recommend to a friend. (Posted on 5/03/11)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
I have a Celestron Nexstar 130slt and cannot find the charging adapter anywhere. Do you guys have any to sell or know of somewhere I could find one?
A:
Unfortunately, Celestron doesn't make charging adapters for their telescopes for Australia and only make them for the US. As such, there aren't any adapters for Celestron in Australia. The best way to power up your Celestron Nexstar is to use the Celestron car battery adapter (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-car-battery-adapter-for-all-nexstars.html) and connect it to a powertank (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-powertank-12v-power-supply.html or http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-powertank-17-power-supply.html). As an alternative to the powertank, you could look in your local hardware store to purchase a converter that lets you plug in the car battery adapter to a wall socket.
Q:
Can you use a standard T mount with this telescope to attach a camera? I've used a refractor telescope with my camera but I have no idea about reflector telescopes.
A:
You can certainly use a T-adapter / T-Ring solution to attach a camera to this telescope! You can actually attach a camera to most telescopes but the image quality will vary.
Q:
I'm eyeing to buy Celestron NexStar 130 SLT together with the required adapter for my Nikon DSLR for astrophotography. Can you advise me which adapter will I need? This is the first time for me to buy a telescope and I want something that can last longer. I'm not sure if I should buy a motorized one or just a normal one. I need your advise and look forward to buy one from you. My postcode is 3029.
A:
The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT is an excellent telescope which you will not be disappointed with any time soon. Computerised scopes are great in that they make locating and viewing objects so much easier. Simply scroll through the menu, select one of the 4,000 available object from the menu, and the telescope will automatically locate it for you! Personally, I think computerised scopes are great, but if you are more of a hands on person and like to identify and locate objects yourself, a manual mount may be the way to go.
You can certainly use the 130 SLT telescope with your Nikon DSLR camera! You will need the following accessories:
Celestron T-Ring for 35 mm Nikon Camera for $24.95 which can be found here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-t-ring-for-35-mm-nikon-camera.html
Celestron T-Adapter, Universal - 1.25 in for $49.95 which can be found here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-t-adapter-universal-1-25-in.html
Shipping of this telescope plus accessories to your location will be around $29.20 via Australian Air Express courier. Delivery would take around 2-5 working days.

Q:
Can you please recommend an eyepiece for this scope to give improved viewing of planetary details?
A:
The 130 SLT comes with two eyepieces - a 9mm and a 25mm. To get a closer view of the planets, I recommend looking at getting a 5mm or 6mm.
For an entry level eyepiece, I recommend the SAXON 6.5mm 1.25" Plossl Eyepiece for $49.95 which can be found here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/saxon-6-5mm-1-25-plossl-eyepiece.html
For an improved quality one, I recommend a 6mm Celestron Omni Series Telescope Eyepieces for $84.95 which can be found here:
http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-omni-series-telescope-eyepieces.html
If you are willing to spend more, then you can look at something in the Baader or William Optics series.
Alternatively, if you would like to get a higher magnification with your existing eyepieces, I can recommend looking into a Barlow lens. This will essentially double (or triple) the magnification of any eyepieces you currently own. However, you will be magnifying a smaller image, so you won't get quite so clear a picture as with a dedicated high magnification eyepiece.
We have the SAXON 2X 1.25" Achromatic Barlow Lens available on our website here:
