If you're looking for a dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the Celestron AstroMaster 114EQ Reflector Telescope is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving correct views of land and sky. The AstroMaster Series produces bright, clear images of the moon and planets.

Easy Astronomy

You won't believe how easy it is to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn with every one of these fine instruments. When used for astronomical viewing, AstroMasters yield breathtaking views of the moon, Saturn with its ring structure, Jupiter and its belts and moons, nebulae, and star clusters.

Quality construction and design

The Celestron AstroMaster 114 EQ Reflector, in particular, is ideal for the novice skywatcher. It features all-glass optical elements, smooth operating steel tripod mountings with manual motion controls, and coated optics for enhanced image brightness and clarity. Quick-release, no-tool dovetail attachment makes setup a breeze, and a rugged pre-assembled tripod with 1.25-inch steel tube legs provides a rigid and stable platform.

Equipped with a permanently mounted StarPointer Finderscope lets you keep track of the stars, and a German Equatorial Mount with Setting Circles helps you accurately locate and track sky objects. A deluxe accessory tray provides convenient storage of accessories, and the included "The Sky" Level 1 planetarium software features a 10,000-object database and enhanced images.

This telescope combines the best in intricate technology and ease of use, and makes a great gift for any budding astronomer, young or old.

Looks great but lacks performance - Review by Shano
Overall Score
I love the design and look of the scope but the optics are rubbish! There are much better scopes on this site for around the same price. The tripod performs well which I will use to host a better optical tube. (Posted on 23/11/11)

Pros: price, great first telescope
Cons: May encourage you to buy a big telescope!, Doesn't focus real well

I Love it :) - Review by Jasmin Crisel
Overall Score
I bought this as my first telescope 3 weeks ago. I find it easy to assemble as I found a video on Youtube. It was really helpful. I even tried memorising the steps even before I got the actual telescope.. :)

After setting it up I was confused with all those directions with aligning the telescope with a bright star and stuff, I took it out one night and was really frustrated because I can't see anything. I tried using it during day time and jumped for joy after seeing a distant object. Through this I manage to fiddle with focusing the eye piece. After that it's so easy to find anything from a distance. That is during daytime.

After many cloudy nights I managed to get a clear sky tonight. I took it out hoping to see something this time. After fiddling with it I manage to see a star. It's just like a tiny dot of light. I then tried looking for the moon, It took me an hour to find it but It was worth all the pain. After seeing how clear and big the moon was I felt very accomplished. The telescope gave a very detailed surface of the moon. I was so happy.

After all those frustration I finally appreciate this telescope. I recommend it for first time users like me. And always remember that patience is a virtue :) (Posted on 2/11/11)

Excellent - Review by Michelle Briscoe
Overall Score
I was so very impressed with the customer service I received. If it had not of been for the lady that I spoke to I probably would not have bought the product. She was so helpful and had a hugh amount of knowledge. The scope was given as a present on the 13/12/10. It was easy to assemble and has a huge amount of user information provided. I would recommend OZScopes products in the future especially to the first time users. (Posted on 16/12/10)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
What is the warranty on the celestron telescopes?
A:
All Celestron telescopes come with a 2-year warranty. They are sent back to Sydney, NSW for any warranty procedures. Just FYI, Saxon has 3 years warranty and Skywatcher 3 years as well.
Q:
Hi there, I bought the Celestron Astromatser 114 and have been able to sight the moon, would love to see it closer. Can you recommend any accessories that will help me do that?
A:
Higher magnification eyepieces will give you a closer look at the moon! For this particular scope, a 6mm eyepiece would be best.
Alternatively, you can look at getting a barlow lens and using it in conjunction with your existing eyepieces, to either double or triple the magnification.
