Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Looking to buy the Optex OPH 2440 tripod with the purpose of mounting a pair of large pentax binoculars (ZCF 7 x50). Is it suitable for this purpose? Can it also be used for a small digital camera (Cannon , Powershot G12)?
A:
Yes, the OPH-2440 will be suitable, as long as the binoculars is less than 3kg in weight, and I believe a binocular of that size wouldn't exceed past 2kgs so it should be fine. Smaller digital cameras can also be mounted on to the tripod. It has the little screw-in threads that is universal for all cameras.
To mount your binoculars on the tripod, however, you will also need a tripod adapter such as this one (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/saxon-tripod-adaptor-for-binoculars.html) if your binoculars doesn't already come with one. This adapter lets you mount your binoculars onto any tripod.
