Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD Plus Binoculars
The Ultravid HD Plus Binoculars - for the perfect observation experience.
The most powerful pair of binoculars in Leica's Ultravid 42mm Utravid class, you're sure to find the ultimate in comfort and quality with the Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD Plus Binoculars. With redesigned eyecups, you'll experience very comfortable positioning of the eye, which leads to improved image steadiness during use.
With these binoculars, you don't so much see as you do sense. With the Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD Plus Binoculars, you'll see everything in ultra-clear detail. Best used as hunting or birdwatching binoculars, you'll be able to see even the most minute of details. These 42 mm Ultravids also impress due to the benefits of the new HD Plus models - the new Leica AquaDura FL lenses to protect your lenses against water and dirt.
The Ultravid HD Plus Binoculars will keep delivering the ultimate viewing experience time after time - temperature mean nothing to the Ultravids' quality. The new focusing mechanism on the Leica Ultravid HD Plus models works with high-performance Teflon disks and almost no lubrication. This ensures constant smooth focusing - even at temperatures as low as -25°, where other binoculars may fail.
Optical Lenses - Fluoride Lenses and AquaDura Coating
Built with new fluoride (FL) glass lenses, the Leica HD Plus series delivers improved color fidelity and image contrast. Optical FL lenses are made up of calcium fluoride, a mineral with a crystalline structure. Unlike other types of optical lenses, this creates a very low level of dispersion (light scattering) and corrects aberration (imaging errors) far better than regular glass. This results in a viewing experience that's more natural - and far more impressive.
The Ultravid's HD Plus lenses are now fitted with Leica AquaDura, a "hydrophobic coating" which repels both water and dirt. This lens coating ensures clear visibility even in poor weather conditions. Droplets of rain simply roll off the lens, and fingerprints and dirt particles are much easier to remove. In addition, thanks to its increased abrasion resistance, Leica's AquaDura will protect your valuable lenses from damage even more effectively.
Increased light transmission
With an antireflex coating and a reflective layer on the prisms, there's now an even higher level of light transmission on all HD Plus models - by at least a 3 %. This is especially important in poor lighting conditions, such as twilight - where image brightness is crucial. The new Leica HD Plus range now reliably combines an optimum degree of image brightness with a constant level of colour neutrality.
Consistently smooth focusing
Optimized material pairings and gliding discs made from extremely tough, high-performance plastic are used when constructing these Leica Ultravid binoculars. In colder conditions, the conventional "greased" focusing mechanisms often work with difficulty, and at higher temperatures they move too freely. In addition, these focusing mechanisms can sometimes feel "sticky", and at higher temperatures that grease can escape and run over the lens. With the optimized Leica focus, these risks have been eliminated.
