Description

The Saxon 1.25" 1.5X Erecting Tube corrects the image for a reflector telescope so that you can use your telescope for terrestrial viewing. Reflector telescopes generally present images to you in an inverted or 'upside-down' fashion, and it's great for viewing celestial objects but no so much for land-viewing! To add some versatility to your telescope and use it for both night and daytime viewing, simply add on the Saxon 1.25" 1.5X Erecting Tube and voila! you've got a powerful spotting scope and telescope in one beautiful package!

The tube is compatible with any telescope or optical device that uses a standard 1.25" diameter eyepiece. Works great with nearly any type of reflector telescope! Better still, the Saxon 1.25" 1.5X Erecting Tube brings objects 50% closer so you can see daytime objects in greater detail.

Bright enough but does not focus very well. Ok'ish with low magnfication eyepiece (25mm). But image degrades with higher mags.

FAQ

Q:
I have a Saxon 8" dobsonian (purchased from you in October) and have recently inherited a Celestron NexStar 6. Can you advise on my options for additional lens or barlows for increased magnification? Are they suitable for either scope? Can a right way up/right way round adapted suit both? What is the easiest way to attach a simple digital camera to either/both? Are sun filters available for either? I'm trying to have a decent look at the planets, nebulae and hopefully a few galaxies, and would like to take photos of some. Have figured I could use the computerised guidance of the Celestron, then aim the Saxon the same way for a better view. Also, I didn't get the serial cable for the Celestron. Is it available separately? Can you furnish prices for the above answers?
A:
As long as the eyepieces and Barlow lenses has a 1.25" fitting (most of the accessories on our site does), it will fit both your Dobsonian and the Nexstar telescope. In regards to which we would recommend, the Celestron Eyepiece and Filter kit is at a good price at the moment, you get 5 eyepieces, a barlow lens and 5 colour and moon filters for only $299. So instead of getting them separately (approximately $65-$80 a piece), getting them in the set means you have a concise range of magnifications to play around with that will last you a long time. Here is the link for your convenience:http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-eyepiece-and-filter-kit-1-25-in.html Given that the dobsonian is a reflector telescope, the images seen through it is upside down and you would require an erecting prism to correct this (see link: http://www.ozscopes.com.au/erecting-eyepiece-saxon-ee004-1-5x.html). However, with the Nexstar 6 SE there is no need for an erecting prism as its images are already the right way up. That said, did you want to use both of this scopes for land viewing as well? My concern would be that the Dobsonian could be too bulky to be used for land viewing, and the Nexstar 6SE tend to give you distorted views given the amount of mirrors which they have in them. For astrophotography, the easiest way to attach a digital camera is just to get a digital camera adapter which is fitted around the eyepiece. here is the link for your convenience: http://www.ozscopes.com.au/barska-digiscoping-digital-camera-adapter.html We do not stock sun filters for your specific scope, however we do have solar films that you can use to wrap around the aperture of the scope. However, those are custom ordered so do let us know if you are interested in them.
