Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
To power the Celestron Nexstar 4 SE from your vehicle do you only require the cigarette lighter adapter cord or do you also require the battery pack?
A:
To power the telescope from your car, you only need the Celestron Car Battery Adapter (for all NexStars) which can be found on our website here:

Q:
If I get a telescope for astrophotography, using t-adapters to replace eyepieces, what magnification would I have ?
Also, can you use filters with photography ?
Also, can you use filters with photography ?
A:
If you use the Universal T-adapter (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/celestron-t-adapter-universal-1-25-in.html) which replaces the eyepieces, it'll be equivalent to a 25mm lens / eyepiece, so the magnification will just be the (focal length of the telescope that you're using) divided by the 25mm . This is just an estimate, as it depends on the sensor of the camera that you're using it with.
You can also use a Variable eyepiece projection camera adapter (http://www.ozscopes.com.au/camera-adapter-variable-eyepiece-projection-saxon-ca003-1-25-inch.html) which allows you to put in different eyepieces into it while you're using it for astrophotography. With this camera adapter the magnification would be the (focal length of the telescope) divided by the (focal length of the eyepiece).
And yes you can use filters with photography. The moon filters and colour filters go between the eyepiece / t-adapter and the telescope eyepiece barrel, so it'll fit with any t-adapters you may use.

Q:
can I use NiMH rechargeable batteries in this scope?
willI lose all my initial settings if I remove the batteries for charging?
how long can I expect the batteries to last on normal use for 2 hr.per night?

A:
There are no problems using NiMH batteries with your telescope. The scope itself stores no settings internally, and initial settings will need to be confirmed each time the scope is started up, so this won't be a problem. The mount does chew through batteries quite quick though, so you may expect to achieve 5-6 hours usage with rechargeable batteries.
Q:
Is this nextstar90 suitable for a rainforest area with high humidity?
Can I manually override the auto movement?
Is 5.44kg with the tripod?
Can I manually override the auto movement?
Is 5.44kg with the tripod?
A:
This is a fully sealed, airtight scope so moisture will not be able to get into the tube.
Yes you can manually override the auto movement. The control can be used to manually move the scope up, down, left and right.
Total weight of the scope with the tripod is 5.44kg.
