Description

The Celestron CGEM DX 1400 EdgeHD Computerised Telescope incorporates the EdgeHD optical system with Celestron’s CGEM DX Equatorial mount. It has a 14” aperture and it features the StarBright XLT coating, a combination that provides you with the brightest, sharpest views of the celestial objects.

CGEM DX mount
This fully computerized Equatorial mount is able to kill two birds with one stone! While holding the telescopes securely, it also dampens vibration at the same time. This is important when observing using high magnifications as even the tiniest vibrations can affect image quality. The mount is capable of slewing at 5° per second, while carrying a payload of up to 50lbs. Power management has been improved on the CGEM DX™ mount . The redesigned electronics allow the telescope to maintain smooth tracking and accurate slewing even when it is not perfectly balanced. It boasts a modern, ergonomic design with large, easy to handle knobs for easy polar alignment. The mount is designed with the motors and wiring built inside to keep it clean and uncluttered.

One major new feature is the innovative Polar alignment procedure called All-Star™. It allows you to choose any bright while a software assists with the alignment. With the usual database of 40,000 celestial objects with enhanced information on 200 of them, the system can now store another 100 user defined objects on top of that. To view all of these objects the mount has the ability to track past the Meridian for uninterrupted imaging through the most ideal part of the sky.

Powerful Optical System
Take the compact power of a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and enhance it with the high definition EdgeHD optical system. What you will get are high quality images with a wide field of view – perfect for astrophotography because you will be able to produce aberration free images on CCD or DSL cameras. The system is designed to display and extremely flat focal plane precise enough to allow stars to be in tight focus even at the very edge of the sensor chip.
