Nice scope that is very powerful - Review by

The scope is easy to set up, and the tripod is very handy given is is 25x to 75x zoom. Once you get used to the narrow field of view it is excellent during day or night and while to focussing job is challenging some times the fine adjustment knobs make it much easier to find the spot or object you want to magnify. All in all a good option.

The Celestron Mini Mak was purchased primarily for bird watching on wetlands and beaches.
I am astonished by its performance to date, using mostly the 25x to 50x portion of its zoom range.
Have now added a 40mm Celestron Plossl eyepiece to give an 18x magnification for close work in the garden. This adds further brightness to the image and to simplicity of use. We can watch a bee on a flower.
Also added a sun filter which I can tape over it to enable safe viewing of eclipses in future.

The adapter for the Plossl eyepiece has a small knurled knob on its side, to retain the eyepiece. The thread through the thin plastic quickly stripped so I will try a high strength epoxy glue to add a brass or stainless nut to the adapter to give this a long life.
I will also experiment with an improvised lens hood to see if this improves contrast when observing against the light, probably using PVC downpipe, blackened inside. .

This is my first spotting scope and it will be used primarily for watching birds and wildlife with occasional use at the rifle range.
It arrived in a very timely manner considering it was ordered over the Christmas period and was very well packed and addressed.
Upon opening the parcel everything listed was present and undamaged. The addition of a tight fitting cover which can be opened at each end is a nice touch. I have not had a lot of time with the scope yet but first impressions are that it gives a very acceptable image, which is better than expected for the price. As can be expected there can be problems with vibrations and heat haze (mirage) especially at the higher magnification. Adjustments are easy and intuitive.
The free tripod, depending on circumstances is workable, with fine tuning knobs for vertical and lateral movement. Vibration depends not only on the nature of the tripod but also what it is standing on. A coffee table with three large dogs in the vicinity are not the conditions for a stable platform. I believe that given a heavy duty tripod with a pan and tilt head and the addition of a home made sight of some sort (to home in on fast moving wildlife), this will prove to be a very useful piece of equipment. Can't wait to try out a camera on it.

I bought this to check the surf from my balcony and view the wildlife around my house. Works perfect and is easy to use. The national park headland I view for the surf and wild life is about 2km away, this scope dials in on trees and I can spot birds on the highest magnification. Haven't used it for astronomy yet, but plan to so in the near future. My kids love it, 6 & 8, used to straight out of the box, no problem. Good value for the price. Delivery was excellent.

This scope is good value for money. It is clear with good magnification, is lightweight & the tripod is reasonably sturdy. I use it for range work & it is well suited for this job.
if you want to carry it into the mountains for hunting perhaps a stronger allow tripod may be an advantage.
the advice & service i received from Ozhut was great, fully recommend them .

Very pleased with this scope. I read a lot of reviews before ordering and I've been very happy with it. Great views of the moon and was delighted to see Jupiter's four moons and lines on the surface (if you focus very carefully). I do have it on my camera tripod but this was no surprise (see other reviews). I'm looking forward to getting an eye piece to attach my Nikon camera. Ozscope service was excellent. Fast delivery. No problems.

A great little scope for the money. Very clear view of objects and plenty of magnification. This unit also has a standard camera tripod thread so I use it on my large tripod as well as the one supplied. Purchased this unit for sighting in my new rifle to 200m.

    FAQ

    Q:
Will the scope also attach to any standard tripod in addtion to the 'tabletop tripod that comes with it. I would be using this as a spotting scope for target archery. Do you think it would serve the purpose?
    A:
Yes the C70 Mini Mak should be able to fit a standard Tripod. As for using it for archery, my best guess is that it will be suitable since it zooms up to 75x. The fact that it is very compact (weighs only .91kg) is probably important as well since you will need to transport it around quite a fair bit.
